Annotation

The methodological provisions of forecasting the durability of parts of ship machines by the criterion of material fatigue are considered. These propositions are based on the fatigue curve equation, the corrected linear damage summation hypothesis, and simulation modeling. Increasing the reliability of forecasting is achieved by proposing to refine the equation of the Wehler curve. The involvement of simulation modeling combines to take into account the influence of many factors on the fatigue process, many of which are of a probabilistic nature. Due to the unequal influence of these factors, fatigue failure scenarios can differ significantly from each other, which leads to a scattering of durability of even the same type of parts. It is from the position that durability is a random variable that this methodology is built. Its practical testing is illustrated by a specific example of assessing the durability of the propeller shaft of the motor ship of the project VS14.
Keywords: marine machinery, endurance, safety margin, fatigue curve equation, damage summation hypothesis, durability, rowing shaft.
