Annotation
The article analyzes the accuracy of registration of the indicator diagram from the point of view of diagnostics of the technical condition of the diesel engine. Special attention is paid to the issue of evaluating the operability of piston rings and the quality of the shut-off surfaces of valves of the valve timing mechanism. It is proposed to diagnose the degree of wear of these parts by studying the dependence of the current indicator of the compression
polytrope. The importance of maximum accuracy in determining the upper dead center and ordinates of the ex-perimental indicator diagram is substantiated. The theoretical question of the nature of the dependence of the current polytrope of compression on the current volume of the cylinder in logarithmic coordinates lg V – lg p is considered. Within the framework of the developed model for assessing the tightness of the combustion chamber, it is
proposed to consider it acceptable the current value of the compression polytrope index nevertheless 1.33.
