STATE OF RESEARCH IN THE EASTERN SECTOR OF THE ARCTIC SHELF OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Annotation

The article presents the results of studies of the Eastern sector of the Arctic shelf, including the waters of the Laptev Sea, the East Siberian and Chukchi Seas. This region is characterized by harsh climatic conditions, undeveloped infrastructure, low degree of hydrometeorological, ice and geological knowledge. The main research is carried out by the subsoil users of the region (JSC "NK "Rosneft" and LLC "Gazpromneft-Sakhalin"), as well as state research organizations. The article provides an analysis of the fleet of research vessels, as well as a program for the development of the Northern Sea Route, the implementation of which has an impact on the safety of navigation, infrastructure development and, as a result, the overall level of knowledge of the region. The article summarizes the research results obtained by these companies in the Eastern sector of the Arctic Shelf in recent years. Based on the results of the analysis, it was concluded that the lack of modern vessels is an obstacle to carrying out research with ensuring all environmental standards and safety. Studies of water areas are carried out separately, without the exchange of results and systematization of accumulated data between subsoil users and state-owned companies. It is advisable to initiate interaction with Rosnedra, Roshydromet and subsoil users on data exchange in order to combine efforts for a comprehensive study of the region.
